Cruise Port and Terminal Concept

Responsible for programming, design criteria, conceptual design, and design development. Project included master planning for new cruise passenger facility capable of supporting Super-Mega Cruise ships carrying up to 3,400 passengers. Facilities planned to be 60,000-70,000 SF including bus and taxi access and passenger gangway design.

Cruise Port Master Plan

Authored feasibility study and master plan for 2 new finger piers. Included navigation and maneuvering studies plus environmental impact assessment and dredging studies. Final design provided berths for 2 Panamax and 2 ultra class cruise ships.

Conducted navigational and berthing assessments for proposed dual berth wharfs in a remote sheltered bay adjacent to a Greenfield Roatan Island site. Final product was master development plan for maritime facility capable of simultaneously accommodating one ultra class and one Panamax class cruise ship.

Cruise Port Master Plan

Master planning and conceptual design for conversion of out of date Ice Warehouse into new 5,000 sm Home Port cruise terminal. Design included options for cruise terminal to be used as Port of Call terminal. Design also included solutions to include provisions to accommodate vessel logistical needs and a transportation center on the landside of the terminal.Client: Port of Santos Port Authority

MANAUS, BRAZIL

Cruise Port Redevelopment Plan

Feasibility study relating to adequacy of port's unique floating pier and access trestle to accommodate ultra class cruise ships and their logistical requirements. Landside studies reviewed options to expand passenger terminal and its transportation hub to handle up to 3000 passengers in Port of Call role.

Program manager (in Partnership with Marinas do Brasil Consultoria & Associados) for a 36,600 sm port revitalization program including the restoration of a 16th century historical warehouse built by French settlers during the rubber boom. The warehouse was converted into a 1,500 sm cruise terminal renovated with sustainable materials. A movie theater and an underground pedestrian passageway were part of the project as well the addition of a 1,000 LF of a highly complex floating dock in the Amazon River designed to adapt to a 30 meter water tide during rain season.

COASTAL BRAZIL

General Port Assessment

Evaluated geographically ideal ports to assess ability to accommodate latest generation of ultra mega cruise ships. Assessments included port management structure and control, vessel capacity of berths, adequacy of navigational aids and access channel. Reviews included status of capital improvement programs and potential for upland expansion. Findings presented to cruise industry leaders as data sets to prioritize Brazilian expansion programs.
